Should You Only Change Your Behavior?
The experts say CBT is the solution, that if you just adjust your behavior, then you’ll overcome your social anxiety. Well, it can help, for sure. But I don’t think that’s the answer.
As long as you don’t challenge the subconscious paradigms, you will probably continue to suffer from anxiety.
Deep down you believe you’re not deserving, that you’re not important and that your presence in this world is not even valid. All of these beliefs make you feel unsafe. So, of course, you’ll experience anxiety, why wouldn’t you?
When I thought about myself in the past that I was nobody, and that my needs were completely irrelevant, and that I should make myself appear small to be likable – hell yeah I suffered from anxiety.
I started sweating when talked to new people, and I wasn’t really present in the moment. I always thought of how to impress them and make them think I’m smart and funny.
But I no longer have these toxic, false, idiotic beliefs. I’ve replaced them all. Today I view myself as a valuable individual, that I have nothing to be ashamed about, that I have a lot to offer and that I am doing nothing wrong by expressing my authentic self.
It’s my natural right, and my authentic self is good enough, unlike what I was taught to believe.
And if some people will not like my genuine self – that is ok. I can live with that. I will not die without their love and approval. I don’t have to connect with everyone, only with those I vibe with.
The most powerful way to overcome any fear you have is to learn to be ok with it.
When I learned to be ok with not getting approval from everyone, I overcame it. When I learned to be ok with losing some people in my life – the fear had subsided on its own.
And guess what? Now that I am proud of who I am, my connections are real and much deeper. I know that my friends love me for who I really am. I feel very calm and grounded when I talk to strangers. I smile more, I am loose and enjoying the moment. I am actually curious to get to know new people, I now perceive it as a fun experience.

Believe it or not the first time I watched this video with the MP3 I felt like a totally different person being around crowds, something that I was totally uncomfortable with in the past, now it's like a walk in the park, I can connect with people and be myself, something I always wanted.
